Work while they’re asleep
It’s all about finding the right balance, otherwise no one will be successful.
Plan their naps around when you work best, and knock out your work during this time. It’s all about working smarter, not harder. It’s the work from home mom revolution!
After timing my son’s naps around my daily meetings, my life was changed. When you plan them intentionally, it makes your day that much more organized.
And an organized mom is a successful mom.
Balance your shared spaces
So, how do you watch your kids while you’re working? Your first priority is still your kids, so it’s all about making it work together.
Add your desk to their place space. Or better yet – move their play space to your workspace.
That way, you’ll be able to get some work done while they’re playing and distracted. Not to mention, you’ll be able to keep an eye on them in an already baby-proofed space. It’s a win-win!
Become a master at working on the fly
Will you always be at your desk? Probably not.
You’d be surprised at the number of great apps that are out there for working on the go.
Apps aside, as long as you’re able to talk, text, and email from your phone, you’re set!
I always take advantage of my talk-to-text feature on my phone for responding to emails while multitasking at home.
Organize, Organize, Organize
The work from home mom revolution is all about your most efficient at all times.
Keep a notebook or a calendar around and write a to-do list. By organizing your time, you can optimize how your time is spent.
Not only will this save you a lot of time, but you can make sure to get all of the important stuff out of the way first – or even when they’re napping.
Divide your workload
Instead of working all at once, divide your tasks into smaller chunks.
Let’s be real – you know there’s no way that you’ll be able to work without distractions. Instead of letting this frustrate you, embrace it.
One of the perks to being a work from home mom is that you’re able to take the time away from your desk that you need. No one is standing over you, and you will get your work done.
Take the small breaks that you need and roll with it. And then when you’re ready, dive into your next task.
Sooner or later, this will become your new norm, and you’ll be a master at dividing your workload.
Think about what you want to do
Now is the time to really think about what it is you want to be doing. There are so many types of remote jobs out there – the possibilities are nearly endless.
One of the benefits to being a work from home mom is that you have the time to really create your ideal job.
