You know how they say, “life will never be the same once you have kids”? Well, it’s true. To an extent.
Yes, we can never go out without taking James with us, a realization that took a while to sink in. And I never thought one could have as much pride in being a swaddle master, a term coined by Casey in one of his many late-night achievements. It’s the little victories, am I right?
But we’ve found that life hasn’t really changed as drastically as everyone had warned.
When you love life and the things it has to offer, you want to share it with those you love the most. We don’t feel like we’re missing out on going to the beach. In fact, it’s more fun watching James experience the world around him.
James is our new normal. We try not to focus on the things we can’t do with him in our lives. Instead, we are thankful for all of the things that we now get to do as a family that we used to take for granted.
Late-night campout sessions in our living room.
All-day snacking, because who has time for meals?
Family movie nights.
Taking it easy.
Did I mention napping? These are our new normals, and it’s not an adjustment at all.
