Hi! I’m Heather, a 26-year-old living in the beautiful Southwest Florida. I’m Florida born and raised, and will always have a special place in my heart for it. I live with my fiancé, Casey and our two dogs, Snoopy and Sheila. We also recently added a cat to our crazy family. This, (of course), was right before we found out I was pregnant with our first child, James.
I started this blog as a way to share the things I’ve learned from being a first-time mom. My posts are a mixture of the things I wish I had known, along with the occasional ramblings of a first-time mom in need of an outlet!
Fun fact: I’m an interior designer for a small firm in Southwest Florida by day, and I do marketing and graphic design on the side. I self-taught myself all things marketing and graphic design while I was pregnant, and received over 10 professional certifications online — all for free! It wasn’t easy: I spent countless hours and many nights studying and taking exams, but doing so allowed me to be able to work from home and earn an extra income for our family.
When I was 28 weeks pregnant, right at the start of my third trimester, I found out I was having preterm labor. This completely changed our world and was by far the scariest and most difficult thing I had ever gone through. At that point, I was placed on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. This blog was created shortly thereafter and was a much-needed outlet.
On 9/6/2019 we welcomed our sweet little nugget, James Edward to this world. He is the perfect addition to our family. I’ve been making a point to take it slow and enjoy the little things.
Having our son has made me love and appreciate Casey more than I ever thought possible. Watching him with James, and seeing how much he loves being his father is one of my most favorite parts of my day. When I was on bed rest, he stepped up and worked overtime to make sure our family was taken care of. He is certainly the strongest person I know, and his dedication to our family is something I will never forget.
We strive to live a positive lifestyle. We love life, but we also don’t take life too seriously. I learned the hard way that there is a lot of judgment when it comes to motherhood, and most of the time it (sadly) comes from other mothers. I’m a strong believer in being yourself. After all, only you know what is best for your family. You do you, mama!
